Cafe Waiting Love...

Yesterday, I watched this Taiwanese film at the Diamond Bar public library within city hall.

If you get a chance to watch Cafe Waiting Love, it starts off with slightly corny and strange intro. However, it quickly picks up onto different perspectives, sub cultures, and characters that all are waiting on someone else. This is definitely a film with a lot to take in, but makes due with comedy and romance to entertain around the general theme of blind love.

First on the technical details of the picture, lighting, angles, sound, and function of everything are all well done. There are some points where viewers might find it hard to grasp the story, but eventually the different developments come together and lay out the main plot further. Rain was very well used throughout the movie, being it depicts certain aspects of Taiwan where rain is almost always pouring. The cafe is shown as the best setting in the movie, lonely people gather and in this particular story they come seeking answers to their problematic thoughts. With more than a cup of coffee from the mysterious staff, they are a part of what makes the humanistic touch appear even better throughout the story.

Going on more about the movie, from Iron Head Kungfu to other running gags thrown in the film, there are much more subtle meanings behind everything. The talk of angels and how the characters they stem from can change your entire minds about who they represent by themselves. Bricks breaking and a room mate who describes love in her own terms isn’t a simple piece of dialogue to fill up movie minutes. The levels of rhyming with the Mandarin Chinese dialect do show up poetically when needed.

Aside from gangsters their hardships, the main character is able to see the underground world in her community thanks to a silly fellow college student. It isn’t to be taken seriously of a movie, yet it will bring you to think more about your own life and those around you in a more thought-out way.
