To be a writer, keep your eyes open to others.

What do you see that they don't? What do they see that you don't?

Fantasize their reality as if your own. Go through tragedy, also do remember that a life of perfection will never find adaption.
Without such a feat the actors favor, imagination will wither quickly. Improvise what you lack by experiencing from life, art, and cultures.

A last piece of advice, write as you wish to, don't let others forcefully influence your passion.
Only take what you can accept into the full account of your craft. Integrate and experiment with what you come to find and develop your own style.

Personally "I write as I sail across life," fancily said as it can be very common to just mean "writing about life."
It is how I choose to write, but most importantly it is how the three words strike me when I write.
Like a motto, or an anthem before you charge into battle, that is how style should play into writing.
Of course there is much more into it, but the gist of it should spell out a phrase in your mind and heart.

To me that is what it means to be Han One Sail, whenever I get to writing I do it and let my fingers flow across the keyboard.
From time to time I go over the single session but ideally it is always best to reread what you create over and over.
I used to just close the deal on a poem, never considering to change it even if an improvement is noticed. As time goes and writing became more serious than playful, I've changed my stance for new poems I wrote.
It all goes into the style of your writing, how you choose to approach writing and what choices you make along the way.
